Country Domains

How does the registration of a DE domain work?

- The price of the domain will be displayed again – now click on “add to shopping cart”
- The system will now ask you whether you want the domain with a web hosting packageThe system will now ask you whether you want to linkIf you just want to forward the domain, this is not necessary.
- Experts can also specify their own name servers for their desired domain. Normally, however, this is not necessary.
- Now click on “Next”
- Now you are in the shopping cart - if you want to order other products, you can also select them, otherwise please click on "Checkout ->"
- Enter your data here, select the desired payment method, complete your order and make the payment. Please note: we cannot register your domain until we have received your payment. We recommend prompt payment so that nobody registers your desired domain in the meantime.

Domain Extensions and Geotargeting
The domain extension has a major impact on how search engines and visitors perceive your website. Country domains such as .de or .at are primarily only found in the respective country, or visitors often prefer pages from their country. Here it is advisable to either reserve several country domains or switch to a gTLD. gTLD - Generic Top Level Domain - refers to domain endings that are not aimed at a specific country - the prime example of this is the .com domain. This is suitable for all commercial websites. In addition, there are some not so well-known endings, but they are also suitable for many applications:
- eu - For any website targeting multiple or all countries in Europe
- net - For networks and carriers
- org – For non-profit organizations
- shop – Suitable for online shops of all kinds
However, if you offer content in different languages or content specifically for individual countries (e.g. branch locations), it makes sense to register your desired domain with the domain endings of the respective countries.
Please note: Even if you are not initially planning to expand into other countries, it is often advisable to secure different domain extensions. Once an extension has been registered by someone else, it is – if at all – difficult and expensive to secure the desired domain extension. In order to avoid disappointment, we therefore recommend registering several endings when in doubt.
